Ireland’s largest FIFA 22 online tournament is due to reach its grand finale on 27th October when players will compete for €2,000 in Huawei prizing… as well as Irish glory.

Hosted at Huawei’s head office in Dublin and featuring the MateView GT, Huawei’s state–of–the–art monitor designed for the optimum gaming experience, the tournament kicks off with 125 players on 23rd October and will be whittled down to just two finalists, who will go head–to–head in a live final at Huawei HQ and broadcasted on YouTube.

Each finalist will take home the all–new MateView GT, which features a curved 21:9, 34–inch ultrawide display for immersive viewing, with an Xbox gaming console and a host of exciting Huawei prizes reserved for first place.

Top Irish FIFA Professional Players ‘Rannerz’ & ‘XampL_Xx’ will co–host the event, providing live commentary and streaming the final on their respective YouTube channels. Better known to his friends and family as Eric Finn, XampL is one of Ireland’s best known professional FIFA players, representing FAI and most recently announced as Head Coach & Player for Jesse Lingard’s new team, JLINGZ eSports.

Rannerz, meanwhile, is the #1 ranked Irish pro FIFA player, and a two–time Gfinity Elite Series Champion – once as player, and once as a coach. Together, Rannerz and XampL will run the rule over the live event, delivering expert analysis as the finalists compete for Irish glory.

Also attending are GAA star Declan Hannon and Irish international Ross Byrne, who will join the Huawei tournament finalists and compete in a head–to–head of their own, played out across three 10–minute rounds of FIFA 22 on the MateView GT. A proud ambassador for Dublin’s Simon Community, Ross has 13 caps for Ireland, and 104 caps for Leinster, and will look to get one–up on his GAA counterpart when he plays an all–star FIFA match with Declan on the 27th.

Looking ahead to Huawei’s gaming event and the launch of the MateView GT, Adam Liu, Country Director of Huawei Ireland, said:

“The Huawei MateView GT is our exciting first step into the gaming world. At Huawei, we are committed to providing consumers with innovative experiences which push boundaries and improve quality of life. With its suite of smart features, the Huawei MateView GT takes the gaming and entertainment experience to an entirely new level, and brings players closer to the game.”

Huawei’s national gaming event ran across the weekend of October 23rd and 24th, with the live final due to take place on 27th October.

The Huawei MateView GT will also be available in Ireland from the 27th. Priced at €569, more information is available on Huawei’s website.
