Women in Business is calling on Northern Ireland’s female innovators to enter the 2023 Women in Tech Awards before the deadline of 3rd April.

The awards, now in their second year, were created by Version 1’s Lorna McAdoo and are hosted by Women in Business as the only ceremony of its kind in Northern Ireland.

Sponsored by Vanrath and hosted by Sarah Travers, the Women in Tech Awards will celebrate women from across Northern Ireland’s rapidly growing tech industry who innovate, challenge, and embrace technology and serve as an opportunity to recognise inspirational individuals who are changing the sector for the better.

A recent report by Tech Nation revealed that 23% of all jobs advertised locally in 2022 were digital tech roles, which now account for more than one in seven jobs across Northern Ireland.

Speaking ahead of the Awards, Women in Business CEO Roseann Kelly commented: “With Northern Ireland now a world–leading tech hub, we must continue to enable women across the broad spectrum of technology by harnessing this rapid growth. On the back of our 6th Women in Tech Conference, the momentum for these awards is continuing to build and I am looking forward to seeing the wealth of talent coming through in the applications.

“The tech sector plays an extremely important role in promoting a gender balanced workforce across the country. Although the industry has made significant progress over the last number of years, we still have a long way to go to achieve gender parity and this event aims to inspire the younger generation by showcasing the industry–defining work that NI’s women in tech have achieved.”

Looking forward to the awards, Head of ESG at Version 1 Lorna McAdoo said, “I’m delighted to welcome back NI’s Women in Tech Awards for their second year. After such a successful launch last year, with many of the winners going on to achieve incredible success in our industry, I would encourage all those women working in the tech space, either directly or indirectly, to put themselves forward and enter the awards. We have incredible talent in NI and whether you are just starting out or have been contributing to NI’s digital boom for some time we want to hear about your journey and successes so far.”
