hmv Donegal Arcade has reported a huge shift in sales of Titanic merchandise over the past six weeks as Titanic centenary celebrations begin to get underway.
Sales of Titanic merchandise have rocketed with the documentary 'Born in Belfast' up 120% while the CD soundtrack from James Cameron’s 1997 film has sold over 1000 copies in the store since it was re-released on 26th March.
Commenting on the increase, store manager James Rider said, “It’s fair to say that Titanic fever has gripped the city. People have a real fascination with the ship and with the opening of the Titanic signature project and the events scheduled to take place in the city over the next number of weeks, it seems people want to find out more and more about the history of the ship. Customers are increasingly asking for Titanic based merchandise such as the film, books and the music associated with it.
“We have already sold over 2,500 copies of the film in hmv Donegall Arcade and with the 3D Blu-Ray being released in the coming weeks, we expect to see a continuation of this trend,” concluded James.
