O’Reilly Stewart Solicitors have announced a major specialist conference, Promoting Excellence in Personal Injury and Healthcare Litigation, taking place on Tuesday 12 May 2026 at the Hilton Hotel, Belfast.

Designed specifically for legal and professional practitioners working at the forefront of personal injury and healthcare litigation, the bespoke one-day event will bring together nationally respected experts from the legal, medical and financial sectors to address some of the most complex, topical and evolving challenges facing civil litigation in Northern Ireland.

Key speakers will include James Rowley KC, former Chair of the Personal Injuries Bar Association, Nicola Niblock, Partner and Head of Sumer NI’s Forensic Accountancy Practice, Dr Caroline Donnelly, Consultant Psychiatrist, and Martin Wolfe KC of the Bar of Northern Ireland.

The conference programme reflects the growing sophistication of personal injury and medical negligence claims, with a strong emphasis on best practice, evidential standards, valuation of claims and recent judicial developments.

Speaking ahead of the conference, Patrick Mullarkey, Director of Healthcare at O’Reilly Stewart Solicitors, said, “This promises to be a high-quality and informative event, offering valuable learning, insight and networking opportunities for practitioners committed to excellence in personal injury and healthcare litigation.”

“Sessions will cover the front line of high-value litigation, from negotiating and settling financial loss claims to the practical tactics behind pleading and testing quantum, managing expert meetings, and securing fair, proportionate settlements. We will also have a panel focusing on the fast-evolving field of psychiatric injury covering the causes and recognition of mental health harm, proof and valuation of claims, the distinction between primary and secondary victims, and the effective use of psychiatric expert evidence.

“With such an accomplished line up of speakers and experts in their field, we hope the day will provide both practical guidance and strategic insight, while promoting a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach to dispute resolution.”

The conference underscores O’Reilly Stewart Solicitors’ ongoing commitment to professional development and leadership within the personal injury and healthcare litigation landscape, providing practitioners with timely expertise and practical tools to navigate an increasingly complex legal environment.
